Thanks mate haven't tested the winch, heard some good and some bad things about them but I reckon it will be fine for a weekend warrior. And I dont mind the fairlead sticking out actually, looks neat enough to me.

Progress! Got the front in and halfway through the leafs. Ran into some dramas with the towbar getting in the way of getting the leaf bolts out so we done away with it for the time being. Lucky I had a mate helping me, I was planning on doing the lift myself but having a second set of hands is making it heeeaps easier! Second biggest asset was a rattle gun my mate brought over. Worth their weight in gold swapping suspension over!

Installed my new Timken wheel hubs today, not a hard job at all but I dare say a rattle gun would be brilliant for getting that wheel hub nut off - took my breaker bar, a bit of pipe and an 85kg fella (me) jumping on the end of it to crack the sucker! Now just trying to track down a 1/2" torque wrench to get the sucker up to 175ftlbs.

Then I went and installed my new Hayden fan clutch from a ZJ, its a lot bigger and required me to remove the radiator shroud in order to get enough tilt to fit it in but it seems like it will clear just fine now that it's installed. Quick test tells me its pretty damn loud but I have a feeling I wont mind when its alongside the squeaks and rattles, the loud exhaust, and the louder sound system.

Stay tuned for temp results once I'm back on the road!

PS. Anyone outer eastern suburbs Melbourne got themselves a 1/2" torque wrench they'd lend for a 6 pack?

the outer axels have to be in (through) the bearing assembly and done up. the inner axels and diff center not so much.
good luck with it.

Was it a spray can or a tin? I have been thinking about doing my rears as it really has been blasted by rocks and mud over the years.

it was a spray can. definitely get the stuff in the tin. the guy at the shop said you need to thin it out a bit before painting. i didn't bother sanding but i did give the arches a good scrub before a starting.
