I find a similar thing.
I just back off on the throttle and back on again and off I go.
In really sticky situations, the smell of burning brakes is a good indication that BLD is working.
Not as good as diff locks or crawler tracks, but a handy device all the same.
I actually enjoy kicking mine in. It has given me the edge in many situations.

I hadn't noticed how well mine worked until this last weekend when my clock spring went and I lost all electronic aids.. I was scrambling for traction in sections of trail that were bone dry that I previously drove in mud and rain without slipping.

As to throttle and scenarios I haven't tested it formally so can't provide input. Might be something to test on my next trip!

What year is yours?

Mine is 2011 and BLD works almost instantly even with light throttle. Definitely something is faulty with yours.

Mine is 2015, only 4000km on the clock. In low range it works perfectly but didn't seem to help in that situation in h4 or 2wd. I did go back onto the loose gravel though and planted the foot in 1st and all the lights flashed up and it seemed to work fine, so maybe in certain situations if a wheel is spinning too freely it won't work in order to not overheat the brakes and expect you will put it in 4 low?

It's calibrated differently depending on if you are in 2wd, 4 high or 4 low

That does make a lot of sense.

Thanks for your replies.
