I know knitting bags are handy, but considering the hold down bolt is about 70mm long and with a knob about 80mm diameter it is difficult to imagine how it could be confused with something that could be related to knitting.....or how it would get in there.
Never mind - it was never lost and will be happy to be returned to its rightful owner.

Hope you said "thank you".

The Brides knitting bag is like a rucksack, room enough for a whole sheep I reckon, it was on floor in the back and when I chucked the bolt onto the back seat it must have landed in the bag, of course it was removed before I ripped the inside of the Jeep apart looking .... nothing better than a good laugh...

Would it not be better to get a Bunnings bolt that has the correct thread & modify it. That way if you ever want to go back to standard, you dont need another bolt. Just put the original in a safe place! Errr, the knitting bag? It sounds like a good place to keep lots of things!

I actually thought of that but cut and shut the bolt yesterday gone from 60mm to 220mm long now, cut it in half and welded in a bit of reo rod .... I doubt I will go back to the old rim this will be my last Grand Cherokee so no need to keep a road wheel, well unless I replace this one with a last of the model WK2 ... I doubt it........

The most annoying thing is with the wheel shiny side up I can just squeeze the jack underneath with padding on each end of it, just haven't found a decent bottle jack that will lift the Jeep yet still not be a cumbersome thing to try and store inside... as it is I have a wooden block carried in the wheel well to give this mongrel jack enough lift to get a wheel off ... I do have a small bottle jack which would fit nicely but I would have to lift off the wishbones not something I'm keen on doing...... Totally useless jack for a supposed 4x4... at least when I'm travelling I have a decent bottle jack in van....
Exhaust jack can be a bit iffy I found as there are so many bits that will crunch underneath and placement needs to be done carefully, which out bush isn't always possible....

I have for a few years now taken a small trolley jack away with me .Stored it in the van with a few blocks of wood ,easy lift of the van or Jeep to change tyres etc.when on the road towing.I see now you can get alloy ones which weigh much less.

The extra 40mm lift on mine I need a 50mm block just for the standard killa jack and my 3 ton bottle for van fully up the tyres are still grounded without about 80mm of chocks under it ......... I have a big 4 ton trolley jack makes life easy in the shed and I have a small 2 ton trolley jack but at full lift it won't get the rubber off the ground and they are a pain like scissor jacks in the dirt .. I once had an air jack which I had chopped the handle back and it was brilliant so long as you had a decent compressor and I mean a good one, again age got the better of it.... if I have to change a wheel the tyre is usually totalled and some slime or a plug won't do the job.....
