Default Diesel Engine Oil Choices?

I've been using Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 for the last few years and it seems to be a good oil, though getting very hard to source as Shell doesn't bring it into Aus. So looking at alternatives that are easy to find in places like Repco, Supercheap, or Autobarn.
Penrite Enviro+ 5w-40 looks good at 0.8% SAPS content but isn't CJ-4 rated.
Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w-40 looks good but is crazy expensive. Nulon doesn't seem to have an oil with the right API and ACEA ratings. Any other readily available oil I should consider?

Troutman, I used that Penrite at my 50K service, genuine filter and I've done 10k since. I rang and spoke to a Penrite Tec re the CJ4 issue and he said it was ok and the 5w-40+ was the best choice so I ran with it.
I'm due to head up North in about 7 weeks and will do my 60K before I go.
Like you I found Mobil 54-40 prices amounted to extortion.

Hope this helps

Yeah you'd reckon Mobil are affiliated with FCA, given their pricing LOL.

I'm using the Penrite Enviro+ 5w-40, I just grab a 5 or 10L bottle when SCA or Repco are having a 30 or 40% off special. Filters I've been getting from Sparesbox when they have a sale.
