Default Jeeping again

About 2 weeks ago I finished a refurbish on my ZJ and wrote it up on Jeeping Again thread. One thing I didn't mention was that despite setting up the dizzy on the engine stand I managed to be 180* out. Once I discovered that I just swapped the spark leads around to get it going and drive up the road. When the dust settled a day or so later I took the dizzy out, re aligned the rotor arm to #1 and fit it back together. I haven't been able to start it since! I get a half hearted thump every now and again as I wind it on the starter.

1. I get a fat spark at the plug.
2. I've got fresh petrol at the injectors.
3. I've swapped the coil, coil lead, the hall effect sensor in the dizzy, all the injectors, all the petrol in the tank.

4. quadruple checked the timing. It felt like it was retarded so I purchased a timing light to check and yes the light showed about 30*ATDC retarded. I advanced the timing by one tooth and it still didn't fire. The light showed about 15* ATDC but physically the rotor was nearly on #4 from the previous cycle.

Please, where am I going wrong?

I can't see how there can be a major stuff up as the drive up the road showed a strong motor. I put this post on the XJ thread because you guys seem have a lot more experience in tearing down motors.

I fixed it! That dizzy is dead set screwy. I confirmed on my son's XJ that the spark was retarded using the timing light but no amount of moving the dizzy anticlockwise could I shift it in the right direction. Then it slowly dawned on me that maybe I was moving it in the wrong direction . When I shifted to the 5:30 spot it burst into life. I still don't understand why.
