There is a US Liberty in this months 4x4 Australia with a custom snorkel. Look them up, they used something plastic by the look of it.

Default KK snorkel - CRD and V6

It's the same KK Kontek talked about on 25th June.

All metal custom similar to yours.

I've read through most of the posts here, but similar to my R50 Pathfinder that no one makes a snorkel for, we found the similar model Navara with the same engine, the snorkel would fit, with some tweaking. That car also had monocoque construction that required cutting the crumple zone, but we felt safe as we found many other cars where this is done and approved by the snorkel manufacturer and the vehicle engineers.

Could someone update me with why/how the KJ snorkel doesnt fit? Has anyone tried? Obviously it would not be a straight bolt on, but would it be the best/closest thing to start with?

Seeing as you’re looking for a diesel I wondered if the air box location would be in a different location but it turns out that its pretty much identical to the V6.

Looking into the KJ diesel Safari snorkel it seems to be very similar or the same as the petrol. As someone that has made a hands on effort regarding the quest for a snorkel I am finding the pages of the installation manual to be encouraging. The only way to know for sure is to get one and give it a try. If no luck with wreckers then they’re around $400 + new which is possibly why no one has put their hand up to say they’ve tried it.

Diesel installation manual:

https://www.safari4x4.com.au/images/...ep-install.pdf

Petrol installation manual:

https://www.safari4x4.com.au/images/...ep-install.pdf:

The structural frame beneath the panels are essentially identical between the KJ & KK, it’s just the right guard, wheel arch moulding, bonnet and front window pillar that things get interesting but actually may not be as bad as we might think?

Lastly, the Airflow KJ snorkel appears less suited to the KK, not sure if that’s an option.
