that plate sounds excessive, surely 2mm would be fine... it didnt say the weight of the guards, but 5mm would weigh a ton.
im gonna have a measure up if it stops raining today. i think ill use some plastic to cut out a template, then transfer that onto cardboard, then onto the metal.
i am considering makeing some like these OR fab style (http://www.examiner.com/trucks-in-lo...slide=11361776). i like the look of the rail, but it makes it harder to make because the metal has to be bend an extra time for under the window.

yer.... that is some full on armor.....depends what you do with your heap. It does look the goods, and if you are sick of replacing lights might well be the answer.
however cannot help but think of the weight, I love where my heap can go as well as the pick up it has, and nothing robs pick up like weight, especially if armor theme extends to the whole vehicle.
please keep us all posted on which way you decide to go with pics, as I'm sure others, some if not many, will be interested.
