That's it, you guys are right. I'm sick of holding mine up with my head whenever I get something out. I'm ordering a set now!

I purchased mine off ebay approx 18 months ago and tail gate still wants to take my head off (did a measurement when I fitted the new ones and no sag at all)
I did order the ones for the 96 Xj (glass Tailgate) as they are heavier duty than ones for metal tailgate

Got ours from Auto & Industrial Struts, Essendon on ebay, fast delivery, easy installation and still strong. John

Ordered a set approx 18 months ago and only noticed now that they are starting to sag

You have been running yours upside down haven't you? That will let the seals dry out much sooner. The body of the strut must always be to the top when closed so the oil will sit on the seal most of the time keeping it hydrated.
Cant fit them the wrong way on the 97+ but even many from the factory were fitted incorrectly on the early ones!

Probably why the factory changed one end so the workers fitting them at the factory would get it right!
