thanks, i will check those out, but i fitted a SYE from Wooders with new tail shaft about 2,000km ago - will check front as well, however, i have had back seat passengers say they think it is coming from right under their feet, they can feel it on the floor. But like steve said, metal to metal can travel

It just seems odd that the only time I hear it is when I'm in low range - never heard it in high range, and it doesn't always happen i.e. sometimes you'll never hear it and sometimes you can hear it a few times when out wheeling.

Low range is putting more torque through the unis etc. Also if a mount is bad or something like that it can cause it to twist more etc. Could also be the exhaust, clearances are tight around the tcase and it mounts to it, also check to see if the shackle bolts are touching it.

Cheers
Steve

I had a bit of a look at the unis last night to see if there were any shiny bits through the mud covered steel - I can't see any shiny bits although the angle on the transfer case did look reasonably tight. Next time I hear the noise I might send the spotter out to have a look.

What is the ball park cost for a uni joint?

The joint itself is reasonably cheap, I'd say less than $50 (I paid $18 trade on the weekend for a greasable unit).

My double cardin in the front was stuffed, I would have described the sound as a ticking but maybe it could be that?
