After pulling the center console out on the weekend to dig out a pen that fell in near the handbrake a while ago, I decided I might as well summerise it while I was at it, since we are 1/3 through Spring. Doors switched over & back windows off.

I love the look of the yellow AEV caps but sick of them peeling off as they are only stickers so I painted up some of their embossed caps to see how they'd go.

Installed a snorkel

and some fox shocks in the front.

this is the old shock at ride hight full droop [emoji51]

Made a roof rack mount for my Weber.

Then took it camping.

And got it dirty.

Oh, and lastly I reversed into a tree and smashed the rear window.

Good work all round! Except for that last one. That one always sucks.

(I backed into one that I couldn't see because it went sideways & didn't show over the spare. Bent & broke the cast alloy spare carrier!)

Yeah it sux but considering the amount of off-roaring the vehicle has seen I’m happy that’s the worst that has happened.

Funnily the aev carrier is what went through the window and managed to pop back to its original spot once I moved the Jeep of the tree.

Decided to keep the Wrangler and change the things that were making me unhappy with it.

First up is getting rid of the really heavy wheels and muddies. I like polished wheels on Wranglers and the Wildpeak MT01s are awesome, but at 40kg each, they were ruining the drive.

I picked up 5 stock 17" wheels from @Nanook during the week - cheers! - and then went hunting for some ATs in 265/70R17. I'm partial to Wildpeaks but the best price I could get locally was $280 each. I found someone selling them in Sydney for $180 each - absolute ripper of a price, definitely worth the 5 hr round trip.

Overall, downsizing has made the JKU much nicer to drive, and it's not much but I'm also saving a couple L/100km.
Attached pics of before and after.
