Its called ESC i think and it's one of the buttons next to the ciggy lighter with the picture of a car with skid marks in it. The settings change when in 4wd and it turns off when in 4lo, hence the little yellow light on the dash comes on. It can be turned off for snowy or slippery conditions by holding th e button down.
BLD applies the brake to the wheels without traction to give power to the one with it. There are a couple of awesome videos on Youtube showing a JK going over ruts that demonstrate how it works, have a look.
I have lockers front and rear, hardly ever needed them, and when i have it was realky gnarly stuff. A winch is also my advise for something more useful to spend your money on.
