Default CJ8 drive line options

Researching options for my scrambler restore/build. Target is an original looking scrambler with a more modern injected/auto drive line capable of medium trails running 32/33's. One of the options I was looking at was a complete XJ drive line swap minus rear axle. This would give me an HO 4.0 with fuel injection, aw4 auto and a transfer case with part time auto option and With the right donor an HP 30 for the front leaving just a rear diff to source, (Ford Explorer perhaps?). I would loose the Dana 300 but for the final tyre size the loss in strength doesn't really seem critical. Advantages over say FSJ diffs would be purchasing the right donor XJ would give me virtually everything I need, good choice of up grade options and better gearing. Would be interested to seem what people think.

I think that would be the most practical option to obtain what you want. The explorer would be the go to get four wheel discs and they are plentiful.

Find a donor XJ with the chrysler 8.25 rear diff rather than the 35c
they are about.

track would be a nice width too!, I was thinking the the same drive line and suspension would be nice in an early willys pickup too!

A Model 20 from an FSJ cut down would be a good choice and not hard to do if you can get the bits.
Cut the front 44 would be the choice as well.
The 4 litre is a nice choice and looks the part.
