Wink CJ7: 1983 Renegade rebuild project

Well the time has come where the cj needs work I've started dismantling the cj7 and looked at the work involved in reviving the jeep back to a everyday jeep for work and play i have come up with a rather different plan to combine relyabillity and yet still a rugged cj together. As i have been looking down the barrel of this job for a long time now i have collected alot of the parts i need in my spareroom. I have taken a few photo's and will post them when i make some headway and any ideas that anyone has or questions would be most appreciated thanks ppl and enjoy

My plan for this project - total dissasembly, start from the ground up with nissan diffs on 4inch leafs run a ax15 5 spd gearbox with a dana 300 transfercase all behind a amc360 which is in getting rebuilt and worked atm. I have recieved a new steering colunm, bushwacker flares, body mounts, body panels, lights and alot of other bits and so on all from the states wile the dollar has been good for us. If anyone has done simillar things as this eg dana300 to ax15 any help would be great as i havent looked into how it will work or what adaptors i need. cheers

Looking Good!

The AX15 will bolt to the D300 (Same bolt pattern) though not sure about the output shaft length and the clocking of it.

re: Nissan diffs, If you are keeping leaves, you will need to either outboard the springs on the chassis or cut into the pumpkin to mount the spring perch. The GQ/MQ chassis is alot wider than the CJ7. Toyota FJ40 diffs are a close and have been known to bolt into the stock location (though the rear diff is ofsfset not centred for a D300, but you could go with a Hilux rear diff to suit.

Hope this helps!

The input shaft length is your issue but easy fixed with a clocking ring

this is the same one I used for my aw4 and they list as the ax15 also

http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_153.htm gives plenty of info and poke around the rest of the site heaps of info on swaps of all kinds

which nissan diffs are you using ?
