CJ8 drive line options
Researching options for my scrambler restore/build. Target is an original looking scrambler with a more modern injected/auto drive line capable of medium trails running 32/33's. One of the options I was looking at was a complete XJ drive line swap minus rear axle. This would give me an HO 4.0 with fuel injection, aw4 auto and a transfer case with part time auto option and With the right donor an HP 30 for the front leaving just a rear diff to source, (Ford Explorer perhaps?). I would loose the Dana 300 but for the final tyre size the loss in strength doesn't really seem critical. Advantages over say FSJ diffs would be purchasing the right donor XJ would give me virtually everything I need, good choice of up grade options and better gearing. Would be interested to seem what people think.
