Finally got around to putting the Ironman shocks onto the jeep. A bit off fiddling but overall not too bad. Cut the bottom yoke on the old ones to remove them and got Pedders the press the springs off the old shocks and put them on the new, $66 a side.
The height now measures 500mm from edge of guard to mid point of the wheel, pretty happy with that.

500mm is 10mm lift, that should be near enough, gee Pedders know how to charge for such a simple job.... I missed you photo above before I hope it beds in okay.....and don;t loose the spanner for the shocks....

Drover, the group next door would have done it for half the price but said their press could not handle the WK2 springs as they are under very high preload, more than what their press could handle!
Maybe they didn't want the job??

I'd say they didn't want the job, as thats a poor excuse, if they can do other FWD springs then the Jeeps aren't a problem, a couple of years ago Toowoomba Suspension and Steering charged me $30 when I dropped 2 shocks, 2 springs and 2 top caps on their bench as I couldn't compress them the last 15mm, he gave them back to me before I had finished my cup of coffee...... I will still do the 650 km round trip to get stuff done, daughter is pleased we visit lol,lol...... an sagged original jeep spring will come off with a simple car compressor....

That would be right. The WK2 struts are very long compared to most and under much higher pre-load. I had the same and after ruining my own, took to a backyardy, he couldn't do it, then took it a suspension place and it blew his compressor, had to end up taking it to the dealership. Any good suspension place with heavy duty hydraulic machine will fit the bill but not all the same that is for sure. enjoy the ride.

I found the same thing with most of my FWDs, the originals come off easy but fitting aftermarket jobs, need the larger HD compressor unit, I only use proper steering shops as most mechanic shops are just geared for car stuff which is pretty light and easily done with basic spring compressor units....

When I got the springs replaced due to a fault in them recently the shop had the springs swapped out in minutes, took them bluddy ages to get the struts back in, they had lost the spanner...........
