PRND shifter Lights on all the time

Hi guys,

Just noticed something strange recently on my 2018 GC. When the car is parked, engine left off for hours the blue PRND lights on the shifter is lit up. The yellow light next to current gear remains off till car is turned back on. I have even left it for a day and found out next day it’s still lit up. So far the battery hasn’t drained as a result of this because it’s daily used but in a week I am heading off overseas for a week. Just worried this would kill the battery by the time I get back.

Tried resetting all ECU from JScan too and multiple restarts still no change. Can’t think of a customisation I tried on Jscan earlier than could have left this condition. Reverted a few ones I did still no luck. No warning on dash but I am currently going through a check engine light for another issue which is a diesel air intake sensor (car is drivable and getting it checked when I am back) Plus this CEL clears itself on some days and back sometimes too. Even when the CEL is not present, shifter lights remain on so can’t be related but maybe.

Any ideas? Battery disconnect? ��

Your on the money with a battery disconnect...wait...reconnect and see if issue remains....would also disconnect battery whilst away to ensure no battery drain or incidental fire hazard

As always with these mysterious things first port of call is actually the battery, age means nothing nor does a voltage reading, get it load tested and see if it is actually still in good nick.................. I seem to recall this shifter light issue many, many moons ago in a thread, will see if I made a note of the issue.....
Throw a cleaner down the throat for the other issue and then go for a good burn, should get rid of the oil residue in the inlet plumbing and a good burn straight after should cook the muck out of the chimney system ...........

I had the dash gauges stay on a while ago and a battery disconnect for half an hour sorted it out. These cars also start to do weird shit once the battery gets on in years and is on it's last legs.

Thanks mate yes I am going to try battery disconnect today. Other than disconnecting the negative terminal, is there anything else I need to keep in mind with battery disconnect and reconnect? Thanks

Maybe my CEL issue with a sensor reporting the diesel air intake position is low might get reset with a battery disconnect too if lucky? Who knows when all the electrical on these are disconnected they probably reset issues like you mentioned.

Definitely battery reset.

Cheers mate yes everyone is agreeing about the battery here would try that first.

I still only had the chance to remove the engine cover and visually inspect/reseat some of the connectors around the hose but not remove the actual turbo as I was not confident with the clips. Hence trying to speak to a Jeep specialised garage here to see if they can do me the steps you mentioned as a start instead of going to a dealer/garage who would just go here is the CEL, we need to replace all these to start with instead of even trying a clean.





Which area and hose do I disconnect from here again to see the diesel intake area to give inspection and clean? Sorry very bad with these ones ��
