air compressor ready for tomorrow to blow the block and so on down , cleaned the base plate up , found a wonderful gouge mark where who ever did the engine before forced a screw stick into it its on pan side so not to bad, connecting rods for the two will be 128.50 for the pressed ones to be honed and drilled (drilled for the oil feed) ill need to buy some av glue from somewhere and some blue lock thread.

I also found metal kings to be too hard for a bearing, unless it was a good steel crankshaft.

I think I still have a few bottles of lube left if you get stuck (smaller hand sized lube bottles)

thanks for that but ok for lube , my delay is now that I need a decent set of feeler gauges to do the rings (check clearance gap) I do have half a set of dirty old ones , and I did have a new set of angled ones , but like tools , someone must of needed them more than I did
I used permatex on the bed plate , as I hate using silly cone as it tends to squeeze out and float around the engine and block oil flow.
Aviation sealant.

I didnt know they had 2 oil control rings on Each piston. havent come across that since playing with some of the A series & early B series BMC engines decades ago. we used to just put the best of the old oil control rings in the bottom & put new ones in the top. In those days most engines still had 1 piece oil control rings & we would be installing the 3 piece ones. In those days Repco sold individual rings if you broke one when installing.
what are the ring gaps like on the old oil control rings?
