Default WK2 Grand Cherokee GVW/GVM

Just looking around the USA Jeep site and I just read that the Diesel WK2 GVW is 6800 pounds which equels to 3085 kg. That means 136kg on top of the 2949kg we have now in place.
That means we can load the GC with bulbars, rock rails etc and will not be over Plus helps out when towing a caravan. So no need to sell your GC and buy a Toyota LC like some people had said they might do on here .

This is what was on the US site:

3.0-Liter V6 EcoDiesel Engine

220-Amp Alternator
230MM Rear Axle
3.45 Rear Axle Ratio
A numerically lower axle ratio results in lower engine rpm and better fuel economy. A numerically higher ratio improves acceleration, climbing grades, carrying loads or pulling a trailer.
800-Amp Maintenance Free Battery
Anti-Lock 4-Wheel Disc Heavy-Duty Brakes
Heavy-duty four-wheel disc antilock brakes are equipped with electronic sensors that help prevent wheel lockup, offering improved steering control under extreme braking or slippery conditions.
Polished Dual Exhaust Tips
"EcoDiesel" Badge
Electronic Rear Limited-Slip Differential
Electronic limited-slip rear differential rapidly transfers up to 100 percent of available torque away from a slipping wheel on the axle for added traction.

Engine Oil Cooler
GVW Rating - 6,800 Pounds
This vehicle is rated for a gross vehicle weight of 6,800 pounds when properly equipped1.

1. Assumes properly equipped vehicle and 150-lb allowance for driver. Additional options, equipment, passengers and cargo weight must be subtracted. See dealer and check owners manual for details.
Heavy-Duty Engine Cooling
The heavy-duty engine cooling system is designed to vent excess heat generated by heavy engine use.
Quadra-Drive II® 4WD System
The Quadra-Drive® II 4x4 system with rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential delivers superior all-weather traction and legendary Jeep® vehicle off-road1 capability. Choose the Auto mode in the standard Selec-Terrain® traction control system for everyday driving or quickly dial in Snow, Sand, Auto, Mud or Rock for specific driving conditions.

1. Always drive within your ability and experience level and consistent with conditions.
Selective Catalytic Reduction (UREA-DEF)

If you want to check for yourself.

1. Go to jeep.com
2. Go to Grand Cherokee.
3. Click specs.
4. Click on engine.
5. Click on 3.0-Litre Eco Diesel and the information should pop up on your screen.

Regardless of the U.S. spec or the reasons for it, the only GVM that counts here is the one printed in your manual or stamped on the car. In the event of an accident claim, your insurer won't be interested if your local GVM spec is found to have been exceeded.

Thats fair. But I believe jeep in total don't know what they are doing, as I found all the figues they have on the GC don't add up. Thats for the US and here in OZ. I think they only just use one figure for everything as each engine and suspension makes a difference to weight carrying capabilities. Thats the same with the using WDH on air suspension or sprung GC.
