Default WJ common issues - looking to buy

Guys/and girls

this has probably been raised before,

I'm interested in buying another jeep, and possibly a grand WJ, (i think)

Im enquiring into the common faults and issues these cars have. I would prefer a CRD, but they are like hens teeth, so I would look at the V8 - by the way whats the kw of the v8?

Thanks
Dale

heaps of power.... think it's about 160kW and 400Nm or something. There's a high output version and ordinary version as well. Try looking at www.wjjeeps.com - heaps of info there
common problems: heated seats die, blend doors in air-con - don't get hot/cold air directed properly between the driver and passenger, keyless entry receiver unit stuffs up so remote control range is shocking, brake rotors warp in early ones.
think that's the main stuff

plus window regulator failures, but for all that you will be geting a solid vehicle for a bargain price when you compare to Tojo's etc.

WJ ltds are going for a 'song' these days, compared to when I bought mine.

I concur with problems mentioned in previous posts, but if you can get a 'good' (pre-loved) warranty, you'll overcome these. I did.

My 2000 WJ is now rock solid, no probs

Marty

Yep, the WJ's are known for warped brake rotors (on my 3rd set), the front seat bases are weak as piss, I've both replaced & broken mine with my slender 105 kg frame a few times. This morning I replaced the bonnet gas struts for the second time. But for these minor annoyances, I love my V8 WJ....great power, and economy that shames most if not all V6 4WD's, and a note to die for.

In agreeance with the other posts and I have to add general wear and tear for a 8 year old car. (Mine is 99 Grand Chero Ltd V I experienced Air Con failure, brake booster replacement and the ignition key barrel all needed attention. I suggest going for the dealer with warranty options. Though mine is now running sweet!
If you are thinking of modifying make sure you got plenty of dough to spend too
