Default Who wants a rear bar for the WJ/WG?

Like many of us with a WJ/WG (the last of the live axle, 4 coil Grands!) who have toyed with different options for locating our spare tyre after going up to a size larger than the wheel well will take, I have completed significant research over the years on rear bars, but never bit the bullet to get one imported....and too lazy to go through with organising a buying group to bring in a container worth (or whatever).

Anyway, an Australian company is now looking at doing a decent rear bar for the WJ. They were going to do rear before front, but now they are scheduling to do a front bar first because they have someone ask for one every couple of weeks.

Obviously that makes business sense, however personally I have a front bar and am hanging to support an Australian made rear bar (and selfishly I want them to do the rear bar first )

I mentioned that it would be interesting to hear what the Jeep community would say if they were given the option and the response was "If you get enough interest for a rear bar over the front I’ll swap priorities"

So please give your vote in the poll above and let's see what the Jeep community really want. Thanks.

Count me in as very interested. Obviously very early days but subject to price and distribution cost. Will be watching this post closely and thanks BDASH for kicking up the interest.

You could get imported ones through Wooders, Murchison or SBR. Honestly, why bother and wait so long for. Time is a wasting

Since the last WJ rolled off the line nearly 10 years ago I think they may have missed the boat.

Great point, I'd be interested to hear more about their current available options and costs (to Melbourne for me). It would be great if they could add some comment to this thread.

Good point, however I see this just like the snorkels that we (finally) convinced Safari and Airflow to do (admittedly a few years ago now). People are doing more actual 4WD'ing with their WJ's than ever before because they are realising the capabilities, especially now with their affordability.

To give an example of cost to import a bar, my $1600 bar was $3k ++ by the time I picked it up at the docks. So that’s the price they have to beat.
I hope they succeed with the WJ rear bar so maybe they will consider one for the WH.
