Hi,

I've just bought a 1996 TJ, soft-top, auto, 88 000km !! It is my first Jeep, although growing up in Canada and the USA I've been around them all my life. I bought it because even though I've been a very keen petrol head and have owned all sorts of cars, I have no idea at all how to wrench on a vehicle. I'm hoping to maintain it myself wherever possible so advice is definitely appreciated especially regarding what tools I should begin buying to build a functional set. Thanks!

Congrats and welcome.

Tool list:
Decent socket set (recommend 12 point sockets)
Decent ratchet ring spanner set
2 x large shifters
large 1/2" breaker bar

There will also be an assortment of larger sockets you will need but you can just buy them individually when needed. I would also look at a torx set that will fit your socket kit. All these items will probably cost less than a major service so it will pay for itself on the first service
