The annoying thing about this situation is that you used to be able to download the windows 7 oem isos from Microsoft's digital delivery partner. I went through a similar issue recently with windows 7 pro ended up having to install windows 8 instead but at least that got me up and running. The problem with Asus and most of the vendors is that they will charge you for the recovery disk. You might get lucky and find a pc store that will provide you with just the media.

I don't want to buy another copy. I already have a windows 7 home premium product key.

I just need the cd to match. I don't mind paying for a cd but it shouldn't cost much. Computer shop said it would be a minimum of $45 to install as they have a disc. Not really that much but it seems silly that I can't get hold of it myself somehow.

You really don't need to imagine why people pirate stuff. It's literally easier to get windows for free. And Movies and TV shows and music etc...

I am trying to do the right thing.

If you are to download the ISO file of Windows 7 Home Premium from one of these illegitimate sites, you don't need to use their key generators or fake passwords to 'break in' to the software, just use your legitimate product key it should work the same as a regular installation

Can I trust those versions are actually legit and don't have spy ware etc hidden in it?

Asus replied to my email and said they don't provide discs. Really appreciate their help. Not. I guess I could email them back and forth to a third world country for a week ask why not.

Paying the computer shop seems to be the best solution at the moment.
