Well i removed the rear driveshaft regreased the spline heaps of grease this time also replaced the uni joints while i had it off but now when i turn a right corner iam getting a large clunk from sounds like the passenger side rear wheel or diff ,i have done the oil in the rear diff and it looks ok inside the gears this has got me stumpped

Hey Starnut,

It could be your upper control arm now clunking. If you took the slack out of the drive shaft, it may now be putting that force into rotating the diff which is applying force to the upper control arm.

Just a thought, they aren't a long lasting item (1-2 years), especially with a lift.

There's plenty of threads on the upper arm, have a look. Can replace the bushes, but there's a risk of crushing the arm
Can be just worth replacing the whole unit.

Default Spline grease

Had a Triumph 2000 with independent rear suspension. Splines on the half shafts were flogged almost to death. Fortunately the female section was tapered on the outside. Had access to a full machining workshop. Machined up a dummy of the female tapered section and heated and shaped some gi pipe of the appropriate diameter to match the dummy. Heated up the pipe and pressed it over the spline section to shrink it and left the pipe on. Great after that. A bit more technical if the outside is parallel.

Well iam convinced its the upper control arm so iam ordering a new one from Rock Auto also doing a 2inch lift with new springs and shocks this will be fun getting too old for this
