Dear Jeepers,
nice to meet you! I am writing from Italy, I was suggested to become part of your forum due to your incomparable experience with Jeep's technics! Happy to be a member of ausjeepoffroad!
I have one question: so far I was quite sure that my Cherokee KJ 2.8 CRD 120 kW had a timing belt driven water pump. I recently replaced the timing belt and it seems that my impression was right.
Then I discovered that a further service belt driven pump is installed on my VM engine: its Mopar code is 55037539AA.
Do you know what is this and what is it for?

It comes up as a viscous heater unit for the engine - perhaps for use in winter to provide extra warm water circulation around the engine/heater core when the engine is first started?

It is a pump that circulates hot coolant through the heater. There is a lot of information on lost jeeps. You can even get a delete kit if you want.
