Default New JK owner - There and Back warranty vs mods?

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 2017 3 door Wrangler and been liking it since
It's been quite a switch from AWD to 4WD but alot of fun too!
Thanks in advance guys, there's quite alot of info, vendor details and jeep knowledge in here -which is great...so my apologies if this has been answered time again, i did try a search but did not find anything directly related-

-
From what i understand my jeep is covered under the 5 Year 'There and back' Cap price Servicing and Warranty (its only been serviced once by the previous owner, due for it's 2nd service in May).
I contacted Jeep a little while back via Email to ask around aftermarket modifications and if any or any certain types would void the 5 year service / warranty, unfortunately they didn't get back to me and I've been hesitant to go into a dealership as i really would prefer a reply in writing.

Has anybody had any issues here or know any related info please?

Thanks and cheers guys ,
Ryan

I think any damage resulting from any aftermarket modifications will not be covered by your warranty.

You mean, "Any damage they can claim is resulting..."

People often call me a cynic. I prefer to think of myself as a realist.

Technically if the modifications aren't related to any warranty claim then it isn't a problem by Australian law BUT, as Banshee wrote, they will try their hardest to link your mods to your claim so it's always a worry.

I'd be very surprised if you get any kind of answer from them as they won't want to put anything down that you might be able to use against them later.

Put on a bulbar and claim for a driveline issue, they will claim that the extra weight has affected it. You can take it to court and more than likely win but no one wants to go through that.

The only way to safely get around it is to have the dealership supply and fit the mods but then you are up for big money.

Honestly, if it's a 3 door you don't even need many mods and it will conquer most trails.

33's, front sway bar disconnect, and maybe a 2 inch springs and shocks lift.

I don't think these would affect a warranty claim?

They certainly will.

Ha. I had City Jeep (Melbourne) try to blame a diff noise on the fact I’d put “off-road” tyres (they were Bridgestone Dueler all terrains in the OEM size) on mine. They had no explanation for how the tyres could cause the noise in question - didn’t stop them making the ‘diagnosis’ and wiping their hands of the problem, though. Had to get FCA involved (not an easy task) to actually get some common sense applied and get the issue sorted.
