Default CJ7: Need assistance on CJ project

Does anyone know where I can source the necessary parts to adapt a GM Turbo 700 Automatic Transmission to the existing Dana 300 Transfer Case. Have been searching the Web and note that there are companies in the US who offer these parts although would prefer to spend the money in Aus if they are available. Should have mentioned that my Jeep is an 83 CJ7, will post some photos soon. I want re-power my baby soon although cannot decide between a Chevy V8 or the "Green Version' with a 4bt Cummins and a big Turbo. Any ideas would be welcomed.

While you can do it you do realize the T700 is longer and your rear tail-shaft will be VERY short.

For the adapter you need to contact novak or Advanced adapters who can supply. There are local agents for them but are no cheaper than buying direct (often more expensive). Nobody in AU makes the parts so the money isnt being spent here in any case.

The T700 pans sticks out a long way on the right side & makes it difficult to fit a front drive shaft without clocking the transfer case down & loosing a lot if ground clearance, I fitted one to my CJ8 & ended up running the drive shaft out the passenger side after a lot of major mods

With that in mind do you think a T400 or T350 would be a better option ?? Thought the option of having an overdrive might be a good idea. The vehicle is running 35 inch tyres so maybe I won't need the overdrive option??

Before you look at transmissions you need to decide on an engine.

If going LS1/350 chev then a T400 is better and you can find T400/Quadratrac setups around.

35's wont be street legal so you need to look at what your street trim will be as well as your off road trim.

What area are you in?

The 4L60 turbo 700 will not fit without major dramas due to its length.
NOVAK is your best option for the adapters and kits you will require.
I have a complete running small block Chevvy and turbo 400 left over from my CJ project you can have cheap. It all works but the transfer case is shot.

If its in the container with 35's on it, it may well get sent back to the US of A. The 4bt Cummins would be cool.
