ditto, you don't need to type an acknowledgment to like or agree with something.
I'm on another locksmith forum which has introduced a series of likes.
The reason being people weren't posting but they now have a series of emoticons/characters to select which better represents their thoughts on the posts.
They are now getting used which indicates people are reading the posts.
The choices are in order of the attached pic
Good post, agree, loveit, disagree, funny, sad, winner, informative, dislike, useful, optimistic & creative.
NB: I don't agree with them all but we are seeing results of members who otherwise may not post.
