Some comments cautioning use of extended shackles because the mounts are a weak spot on the XJ http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...light=shackles . I also recall gojeep saying it but cant remember where?

Longer shackles are a bad idea as the extra leverage will crack the weak frame mount and also cause rear steer and sway. You would also have to shim you pinion back down and you have changed the height relationship between the front and rear eyes.

I've been to superiour engineering and the drop shackles wont work on a XJ, cause the spring mount sits up to high.

Default Extended Shackles

Hi all

i'm running 3'' longer shackles ( for 1.5''lift) and aad to get 4'' lift at rear on my 1994 XJ Limited

the shackles are made by Teraflex and are greasable as yet i have experienced no problems at all .i also tow a seriously heavy boat 4 or 5 times a year a 23 footer about 4000 pounds plus trailer and dont experience any weird handling, except that the jeep is not 100% happy especially on hills everything is good
