Yes mate, you read it right. I know it sounds a bit too good to be true, I'll have to check it on another run, which probably won't be until holidays in February. Something I didn't mention earlier was I started using 2 stroke oil in the fuel a couple of weeks beforehand after reading Doc's experience in the WH section on here. He runs it about 1:300 ratio in a supercharged Jag & some other vehicles. I just thought I'd try it & see if I noticed any difference in the way it ran. Can't say I noticed any difference, thought it would take a while to make any difference. Not claiming the 2 stroke helped & consumption check was only thought of when fuelling up. Don't have any fuel figures prior to this, never bothered to check it before. In case your wondering, its not a diesel, it's a 96 xj 4.0 petrol with about 170,000 k's on it. Can't vouch for accuracy of odo or speedo either, might find the gps & check it when I go for holidays. Regards oldon.

I think an injector upgrade or swap is happening ASAP for me then, with all the intestate driving I have been doing I get about 470 ks out of a full tank. And that is using cruise control and sitting 100km/h.
Do we all use Premium fuel?

Do we all use Premium fuel?[/QUOTE]

I burn anything. Mine seems to make no difference. I did recently use up my OLD boat fuel as I wanted to drain my tanks. My boat fuel had been sitting for around a year and had no aroma to it at all. Still ran OK. I do usually splurge on "better fuel" if I am going on a longer trip though.

Us oil burners have it easy. I have even put home brand cooking oil in mine. The servo was out of diesel so I went over to the Coles & got a jug of home brand cooking oil. Got me home no problems & ran good.

I don't reckon cruise control does anything for better fuel consumption. I've noticed that when I come to a slight hill I naturally leave my foot where it is and let 5 km/h wash off the speed, whereas with the C/C it tries to keep the speed at 100 and the pedal goes down to the floor a lot more than necessary to achieve this.
