And this is why cruise control seems more fuel economic, but actually isn't

Do we all use Premium fuel?
Haven't done the injector upgrade mate, that was with stock 170,000k injectors. Fuel is always Shell V-power, noticed a difference when I decided to use it after running the wifes Focus on it, because it would run rough on all other major brand fuels. Regards oldon.

I found I got better economy using 95 but the 95 had to come from Caltex. I used to get about 40-50 more km out of a tank using Vortex 95. I didn't really notice much diff going to 98.

Regards A

I found siting on 90kph gives the best economy on either 95 or gas. I did the Bathurst to Adelaide trip pretty cheap back a few years ago. Can't remember the cost but I had less than 90 bucks and maybe a tank of gas and 40L of usable petrol and I got over 1600km before I ran out of fuel completely. I did post it up a few years ago in "My New Pilgrimage" a thread I had on AJOR.

Drove my XJ to my sisters house today for a pre Christmas lunch. Driving on the freeway all was good till the traffic slowed to a crawl on the F3. 35 degrees with the AC on. As I crawled along my temp "spiked" from just over half to into the red. It happened in an instant. As I continued and my speed picked up the temp came down within a minute. WTF. No further problems.
I checked my coolant at my sisters as I was leaving and all was full. Couldn't even get a burp out of it. Very strange. Any ideas?
Then when I was nearly home an old lady ran up the back of me. Her front fender hit me right on the corner of my rear bumper. A big ding in her car but no damage to mine.

You should be able to get better then that, be aware that your tyres are a little larger then stock so that'll throw it out a few % but not too major, I can get over 1000kms out of mine on a tank, a stockish 96 should be able to get 600ish from a tank on the highway at 100km/h without too much trouble...

Is there a way of telling if a vehicle is running to rich?
Going back a bit I know but before ULP if your tail pipe was black it was running to rich. I have replaced plugs,Leads rotor and cap in the last 12 months so the next thing was injectors.
