That's just it, No amount of filter changes are going to eliminate any presence of water, micro bacterial, algae, it needs treated from within the source, ( Fuel Doctor ) but like he said it's 7 parts full, thats alot of fuel every litre he can get out of the tank is a litre less he has to be concerned about and more importantly a litre less of contaminated fuel the fuel pump has to endure, especially the high pressure pump, if the water scores the pump,it's game over!
Trust me filter median doesn't stop water getting through, it only slows it down so it can pool in the bottom of the filter catchment and by the time there's an adequate amount to set off the buzzer, the amount required to do damage has already passed through, that's why the drain needs undoing religiously every so often on a regular basis to allow drainage of any water and/ or contaminants, daily when buying fuel from areas that don't sell large amounts, 2 minutes to open plug, drain, close.
Got a mate who is a Diesel GU-RU and swears, that all these flash new reverse facing snorkels are a major problem factor due to the vacuum effect of facing away from the direction of travel and sucking in water from around the roof/pillar region especially when it's raining,
Just my 2 bobs worth of Rant

As Treebreakerbob said....drop filters and turn ignition to on...do not start...pump tank empty...very messy and costly but effective....it will work....thats the easy quick fix without getting technical and removing fuel lines

NOTE: I DO NOT ENDORSE THIS...HP FUEL PUMP DAMAGE MAY OCCUR

Wont do the in tank pump much good either....it will get warm as fuel gets low and a good chance of cavitating too.

What I was meaning Bob was with a drive and filter change that should have shown if anything untoward was there, water or bugs or crap.... but then again you have to look.............

I would at least bleed some fuel off after its been sitting overnight and see if anything other than fuel is in the jar after its been sitting for awhile to allow it to settle, water will sit on the bottom and if its cloudy then it could have a bug or just mucky.............. you can get a fuel test kit which will show if water, bug or crap in the fuel might be easier than trying to pump it out as that wouldn't be a 5 min job....

So to tame my sense of quriosity I looked in the Bible, forget about trying to suck from the filler there's a one way valve in the filler at the tank end so that may stop getting at it from the filler point on tank as well.... The standard procedure is to drop a fuel line and using a scan tool run the pump, pump may need to be restarted a few times it seems , the only other method is to drop tank, remove the pump and tip fuel out of the hole........... you don't want to remove the tanks, certainly need a hoist, remove tails shaft and a zillion bolts and crap..........

I might get a fuel test kit for the spares box...

Someone want to see if Alfa has a fuel pump run/test setting ?

Bobs VV gizmo appears to be the answer which gives the least possibilty of a poor outcome....'brain' gets bypassed and only pumps in tank operate....but...as troutman states....the in tank pumps could/may overheat even using that method....answers a pineapple ???
New Engineering isnt always better than old Engineering....a simple drain plug on a tank would be nice...but...who am I to judge....probably cost them an extra $5/tank to put a drain hole and drain plug in each vehicle...saving them plenty...at manufacture

Anywayz...after much discussion it would appear that a call to Jeeps'r'Us or All Grand Cherokee will provide the correct answer....doesnt appear the WSM or owner experience has a solution ???
