Spare tire rotation??

I've been tempted to get uni-directional tyres as few times and this is the main reason why I never did. Tyre rotation is limited to front-back on one side. Probably not an issue so much on a dedicated off road car but for a road car it would result in much quicker wear on the left side tyres than the right due to all of the roundabouts. And then you can guarantee if you only have 1 spare then you'll get a puncture on the wrong side and have to run tyre backwards until you get it fixed.

They do have some drawbacks but the grip they provide are worth it for me. I've always had uni-directional tyres on my Falcons for track days so I'm used to it. My JK isn't a daily driver which also helps.

I had uni-directional tyres on my Subaru, and a space saver spare so I only did a F-->R rotation. Never had a flat and didn't need to use the spare.

Never thought about how long the space saver should last before it needs to be replaces though...

I always do a 5 tyre rotation, otherwise you end up with a massive difference on the spare tyre. Especially if you run mud tyres like we do on our Jeeps.

Are you sure it has to be the same? How do you technically explain space saver donut spares? They are legally on many cars from the factory.

That's part of the reason why space savers have 80kph speed limits and, from memory*, you are only supposed to use them for a max of 100km, and "replace with original tyre ASAP"

*I do not, & never have, owned a car with a space saver spare. As far as I am concerned that is enough to rule out buying a car. Fine if it stays in the city or VERY close, but if you are heading out at all or travveling between cities, you are very quickly past the point that the manual says you can't drive back on it.

I could be wrong but I thought because we drive on the opposite side of the road to some other countries this should actually be reflected?
