Dealers/manufacturers wont actually say this as under Australian consumer law this is not legal, any dealer or otherwise saying this to a new vehicle owner should contact the ACCC.
While a manufacturer can stipulate the technical requirements of servicing a motor vehicle, such as service intervals etc, they can not sell a product based on having to keep it in the dealer network for servicing.
Often getting your vehicle serviced at a smaller or specialist repairer will ensure you are far more likely to get the engine oil its ment to have. If you look at the huge range of oil requirements between models, just in Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge.... let alone other brands of vehicles, a large service centre who's bulk oil might be 2 or 3 different grades, its possible that your vehicle isnt covered. Bluntly, they are going to use the closest bulk oil they have.
(Do keep in mind, I am a specialist repairer, so take my comments as you will)
