My 2006 Jeep Cherokee CRD is having an issue where the auto transmission is stuck in Park sometimes. I followed this video and tried to tighten the set screw but it still happens sometimes.
When you say stuck in park, you mean you cant move the shifter?
While Ive not really seen this on a KJ, A faulty or intermittent interlock switch (used on most older auto vehicles prevent shifting when your foot is not on the brake). I'd get under the dash and have a look see.
Yes the problem is that even though I step on the brake, intermittently I cannot get the auto out of P. Seems to be happening more often and in the morning.
There must be something from the brake to the transmission to notify that brake depressed so I assume this is called the interlock switch.
What exactly would I be looking for under the dash ?
