Question fuel comsuption

Hi there, I bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler unlimited edition a month ago. Fuel comsuption was stipulated: 9 lts/100kms not urban driving, and 12 lts/100 kms urban. So far I have driven 2000 kms, 50/50 urban/no urban and my fuel comsuption is 14.5 lts/100kms. I use premium fuel only, and have 40 years driving experience. My last vehicle was a VW new beetle and it made 6.8 lts/100 kms. I was told once my Jeep gets around 15000 kms the engine will perform according to specifications. Is this true?, otherwise i will change it for a Hummer.
Thanking you for your time

Yes... fuel consumption will get better the longer you drive it, it seems to adapt to your driving... I have 22000km on the clock and get between 9/10L out on the highway and 12/13L around town.... mine is a petrol..

yes the engine needs to bed in and things will improve.
When mine was stock i averaged 13l/100km around town on normal unleaded.
Again many factors will influence your fuel consumption so these figures are only a guide.
Normally they quote l/100km based on 80km per hour run ie conservative figures quoted

You won't have to wait that long. Many of us have found that somewhere between 3500-5000km the engine suddenly produces more power & torque and uses less fuel; something to do with the computer "learning" all the different variables and letting go of the run-in programming (do a search, as it's been better explained in other threads here than I have done).

Around 15000 km the entire drivetrain will have settled in & loosened up some, giving further improvements in performance & economy; the JKs do tend to be fairly "tight" when straight off the showroom floor. My 6-speed (according to the tripmeter) is averaging 11.8L\100km Urban now with 20k on the clock; wouldn't get under 14.5 for the first 3000km or so.

The Hummer H3 has a combined average fuel consumption of 14.5l/100
So I don't understand your thinking there.......
