Default compass and back up camera

question time (2011 wk2 3.6 Laredo)

so I've had two fast trips between Brisbane and Warwick

one in torrential rain

and yesterday I'm driving home and look at the centre info screen

top lh corner there's two horizontal bars, and im thinking huh that's nor right, im so tired i couldn't remember what im missing

today it dawned on me its the compass direction indicator, also backing out my drive i see the reversing camera is not working , interelated i don't know

so ive disconnected the battery and let it sit for awhile, ive checked fuses, back up camera is M14, i don't see and reference for the compass

so im stumped, any suggestions??

i read that the compass module is up the front somewhere and can go bad.

ive tried recalibrating,

i did have a problem in the past with the back up camera and had to repair the loom right where it goes through the tailgate so the problems may not be related

any helpful comments appreciated

PS pls note ive searched on the internet and its all full of half wits saying take it to a dealer (not happening) and disconnect and reconnect the battery, (didn't work)

thanks

Agree with the half wits comments, some of them I don't think know how to open the fuel cap..............

Anyway, the camera is certainly a track and test thing, I found when mine played up a plug in the little box was not in enough but that was easy to find as I had been digging around the cavity after the trailer hitch connection and must have dislodged the plug.

The compass I can't help you with at all but will have a look in my Bible if I get the chance today, mongrel thing to try and find stuff in, hate these "E" book manuals.

PS: Just thinking the compass would be part of the GPS set up so would get a signal from an aerial, does your nav work ?? anyway thats the thing I would be working towards.

So look what I found its related to my 2015 but may also be for yours:

MODULE, COMBINED REAR VIEW MIRROR > DESCRIPTION > DESCRIPTION
The Combined Rear View Multiple Mirror Module (CRVV) is an available factory installed component on this vehicle.
The CRVV combines the following modules and items:
Electro-Mechanical Mirror Module (EMCC).
Compass Module.
Note: If the radio module supports navigation, standalone compass module will not
be present on the vehicle.
Auto High Beam Features.
Two hard wired telematic microphones integral to the housing.
The CRVMM is secured to the same mounting button on the inside of the windshield glass and in the same
manner that is used to mount the standard equipment mirrors.

This is from the 05 WK FSM. It states if the display is blank the vehicle needs degaussing, and shows CAL still if the unit is bad. If your display is blank, I don't know if you'd be able to buy a tool with the right spec to demagnetise the roof yourself, or if you'd have to go to a dealer for it.
