It so happened I got two 3.0 diesel oil filters in my position. One is OEM Mopar and another one came in the mail from Rockauto. The first goes for $80 odd dollars locally, the second cost me about $7 delivered.
Curious about such price difference I decided to take a closer look at them. Both filters appear to be fit for purpose and there is nothing “cheap” about the cheap one. It is 7 grams lighter than Mopar (75 vs 6
and appears to be marginally lighter built. The walls of the opening a tiny little bit thicker on non Mopar unit.
The plastic support structure inside the filter is solid in the mopar filter, but could be rotated around in the non Mopar one.
Everything else looks and feels about the same.
Oh. The Mopar unit proudly declares to be built in China while the non Mopar filter is built in Korea (I think).
Which one would you buy and use?
