Ok Kiddies the Haynes Manual mightn't be much chop but I did learn this today before I spent most of my day doing the oil change
I think we can have DRL's Easy!
The bulb in my test light blew and the neighbours was stuffed as well so I cant say a positive Yes as yet
I pulled the airbox out and where the wires go to the front indicator lights there is the Black and Blue wires ... But they stop at the plug! only holes on the other side So in theory you should be able to splice the DRL's in there?
Chrysler only changed the indicator side of the plug.. the harness is the same as the US version ?
Like I said I need to fix my test light to be sure But it looks promising .............
The other plug I was talking about is for Fog Lights I think?

Good find Mark,

Not sure if my 95 has the fog lamp setup. Never seen any spare wires lurking around. Also, my Jeep fitted roo bar has taken a lot of the wiring. I seem to have an excessive amount of park and indicator lights both on the roo bar and vehicle.

Anyway, here is a bit of light reading for you. Remember, for every mod you do on your Jeep, the government has made a 4000 page rule book.

https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2016C00818

Enjoy,

Cheers,

What Fishframe said. Do not go with the LED 'globes'. The reflectors are designed for a light source that comes from the wire filament. The LEDs emit from a patch. This means they are totally unfocused & cause a LOT of glare. (And don't light up the road effectively.)

As for the DRLs, I picked a wire from the fusebox that was switched power & tapped into it, to trigger a relay to power them from the battery.

Also: Do not buy from the USA, as they are designed to their specs & for LHD, so do not comply with ADRs, and may also cause significant glare, as well as not illuminating as well along the left side of the road. (And then how are you going to see the 'roos lining up to get you!?)

the asd and the fuel pump relay come on together. you can hear the fuel pump. but there is no easy way of telling that the asd has enigised if you have a crank no start condition. with the drl hooked up to the asd pin 87- it sticks out like dogs balls.

good luck with it.

I like your idea, but I think the ASD relay will activate from the "accessory" position on the switch?...(the fuel pump runs for 3 secs then stops, in the accessory position)

If I want my daytime running lights to operate only with the engine running, that is why I confirmed the fuel pump relay does work like that

All the US sites I referred to prior to fitting my TJ’s LED’s recommended suing a ‘fuse tap’ to a spare in the fuse box. Most found one in the box in the engine bay, one chap used a spot in his fuses behind the glovebox. That was too much work for me to consider running a wire through the firewall. It’s probably not a problem, but I just don’t feel right about running anything off the fuel pump relay. Anything but the fuel pump.
