Amazing trips you have done - makes the trips I've done in my TJ seem small by comparison.
Love all your feedback you share on your trips but feel I must disagree with your description of the Nullarbor.
I did it twice in 2 weeks and found it fascinating. I'd be there now but for time and money restraints.
A lot of the old (unsealed) Eyre Highway is still there and can still be driven (especially on the S.A. side) - even though the old highway hasn't been maintained in over 40 years it's still very drivable and there are fascinating things to see all the way along.
Here's a pic driving on the Old Eyre Hwy in 2017, didn't see anyone else all day - very humid and overcast. The previous day was 46C!

Yes I guess there r parts along the nullaboring that r spectacular but some of these, particularly access to some areas of the Bight around Yalata have been closed off by the indigenous communities. The Bight is spectacular tho I must admit I tend 2 "traverse" the Nullarbor rather than to explore it. Prob should change this attitude. I travelled the old Nullabor Rd to Eucla in about 1973 when it was still dirt and rough as guts... did it in a 1966 1300cc VW bug.

I have seen a loi of the "to do" list when travelling from Ceduna to the west, but many years ago. Like everything, things change & think I should re-do what has been done... why not? When the borders open again, my aim is to head west and tackle the Connie Sue (roof top tent this time) and mmm thinking I will see those places of old again.

Some have sad memories.... Fowler's Bay for example, when a teenager I went to school with was taken by a shark.... leg bitten clean off. The shark was caught and the leg retrieved.... one of my sisters received it in the local hospital where she was working at the time... she still has nightmares about it.

I think all of the coast of Eyre Peninsula is quite beautiful and is well worth the tripping over a few weeks...longer if u fish.

re temperatures, in desert areas often I am travelling in day time temperatures of around 40C... the JKU does it like a dream. At night, by 0300 it is 0 degrees and stay this was until about 0700. When the sun comes up it takes only about 2 -3 hours for the temp to rise 30 degrees. People get caught out with how cold it can b at night and early morning. I make sure to travel with layers of clothes as well as extra bedding for the tents.

When sleeping in a swag, the ground retains heat until about midnight and then the ground temp plummets so u need to have good insulation under the swag or also dress in layers to sleep.

1989 Townsville to Cape York when it was still an ‘adventure’, in a 1981 Toyota Celica with knobby tyres, no air conditioning, a hand winch, cb radio and big spotlights. Followed by an old Kingswood similarly decked out. And the obligatory 30/30 on the back seat with a towel over it ……..
