What a horror Story, I was rear ended almost 3 months ago and just got confirmation of my settlement today.

Aside from my 1st accessor quitting and the 2nd accessor being fired it was a smooth process by the time #3 showed up, lucky I was still able to drive.

Having seen your video mine was much less severe then that, was rear-ended by a VW van smack dab into the tyre carrier.

Yeah, I could still drive it, but I was hit/pushed, on the back half of the right rear wheel, so it has this slight bend to the axle flange now.

And since it is damaged, the insurance attitude is that once they have seen & acknowledged it, they cannot knowingly return it until it is fixed. Since if it caused any other issues* &/or crash, they would be fully liable.

*eg. seal fails & diff oil leaks out onto brake shoes/pads...

Called NRMA yesterday & got them to extend the hire car for another 2 weeks. No word on when the axle shaft will come in.

I was looking at this & thought, 'That's a JK. And a right hand drive at that!'

I feel this, and they haven't even broken a bolt on mine... yet.

Sooner than expected! I got it back Wednesday afternoon. They must have found an axle somewhere in Oz after all.

Paint on the back corner looks better, not perfect, but a lot better than it was. I'll be checking the axle this weekend...

New axle shaft end is shiny! But the axle as a whole is still a 5-10mm to the left. Not as bad as the 20mm difference before, though.

Loosened all the bolts, tensioned a ratchet strap to pull it to the right & retorqed all the bolts. Still off with a ~10mm difference. Looks like I'll need an adjustable rear track bar to fix that & get it centered.
