Cheers, will do do I need to have the wheels in the air whilst doing this?

Will do. Love having a 4by because jacks and jack stands arent a necessity

VERY common, if rocking the stick thru neutral to park with key in "start" position cranks it, that is confirmation

not overly difficult to fix.

switch can be removed with trans in (neutral I think)
taken apart in 5min, clean up skanky copper contacts, problem fixed

if it gets bad its a must do, as if both neutral and park contacts get to skanky, it wont want to work at all

makes reverse lights not work too

mark position before removal,,,position adjustment is sensitive

see FSM for details and "search" function on here

Thanks! Will give it a go, had a look at some tutorials and looks dead easy. Only thing I'm scared of is the springloaded contacts but have brake cleaner and contact cleaner handy all the time so will give it a go in the morning.

When I do a NSS I use WD40 to help flush out the old skanky grease, clean it all thoroughly including the springs and the holes they sit in, clean the contacts with a scourer pad, make 'em shiny and then give everything a nice liberal coat of silicon grease, re-assemble and away you go....

Thanks I just picked up some dialectric grease (I misplaced mine...) and brake cleaner, have contact cleaner sitting there so should be all good. thanks for that its pretty dire as my reverse lights arent working and only wants to start in neutral..

Also.... my cranking and no start issue has come back, solved by going WOT.... anyone had this issue? crank position sensor or IAC or something?

nothing pops out, just do it inside on a towel anyway

the tricky bit is to get the switch off the shaft under vehicle, as it gets a bit seized by scum, and you have to GENTLY lever it away from trans, gently cause its plastic!..spray wd40 or watever..and I'm pretty sure its meant to be in neutral (or park maybe) before it will come out

Did this all yesterday and went really well. Used brake cleaner on it, washed it off and then contact cleaner + sandpapered contacts. Then dialectric grease, put it back in and works great. Have reverse lights, and no non start issues from that..

Still have the cranking issue from time to time. Thinking crank angle sensor so I'll get ontop of it.

Going in for roady today too
