Given that the CJ10 already has a reportedly stronger chassis plus D44/60 diffs as standard, I may be more inclined to go the CJ10 route and source a CJ8 tub to play with (if the tub dimensions are close enough). Thoughts?

Looks like the A518 may be an option for an overdrive trans (46RH/46RE). Was used in 90s Dodge trucks and ZJ V8s.

cj8 tub on the cj10 is not a bad idea
33's without engineering
id be using the sd33t, and getting rid of the std cj10 tranny,
there are alloy cj8 tubs available http://www.aqualu.com/jeep-bodies.html
measure the distance from the guard firewall join to the centre of the rear axle on the cj10 and compare it with the cj8 tub would be the first step

For either platform, especially if you are thinking 6.2/6.5, please do it justice and include frame reinforcement..... extensively...

Hopefully OP doesn't mind it is close to the topic but do you have any advice on building a CJ10 wooders? Common issues and fixes and things to consider?

To the OP as others have said that budget just won't be enough. I like the idea and think it could work but not for the time and money your talking about. Just getting a CJ to daily drive able condition would take more than that. Then the extensive modifications your talking about would add way more.

But the idea is good. Personally I would get a CJ10 and a cj7 tub. The cj7 tub is a bit more common. Cut the cj7 behind the door and the cj10 in front of the door and make a dual cab cj ute. Alternatively do the opposite and keep the long rear of the cj7 and have a 4 door cj with a full length top. I doubt a cj8 body would be long enough to cover a cj10 chassis anyway. Then an sd33t mated to an auto and the diffs are already pretty solid.

Behind door number 2:[/B]Start with CJ10 diesel and swap in a CJ8 tub, modified to fit CJ10 wheelbase (but not overall length so standard tops will fit). Will also need at least a trans swap, probably a swap to SD33T.
Psssst. Mmmaybe don't open door number 2!!!!
