How fast is it? One of the reasons I bought the TigersZ a few years ago was due to its speed, makes a hell of a difference when cleaning up the rope or packing up after a winch out! Mine winches in or out (no brake in the drum) at 15 metres per minute no load.

Everything is new and cables changed... Seacomms 20.6m pm under no load and 8000lbs of load 6m pm but you have to upgrade the cables to get full 9500 lbs due to the amp draw under load, or double line it and save your money

Wow, was just looking at the specs of that sucker and can see what you meant about upgrading the cables to get the full pull - 580amps @ 8000lb !

Even at only 4000lb (closer to the weight of the JK) its up at 430 amps. Thats a bucket load. I guess the 8.6hp motor and those speeds are the culprits, but I would be a little concerned about the life of my battery under those loads.

My 12,000lb draws around 650 on full load. It is a cheapy though so not in the class of the one in the pic or a Warn.
Question I have been reading people sealing up the solenoid boxes. Mine is about as bad as they come. What's the reasoning behind fully sealing them? I have no issues with mine getting water in the box so I have left the drain holes in it and not sealed the top properly either.

Corroded terminals and an increase in resistance which at high currents translates into heat, and lots of it. Winch slows down, connection heats up, insulation melts, cables short out, things go up in smoke.... The solenoids themselves are usually water proof, its just keeping the terminals from corroding.
