Default finding an exhaust leak`

So the heep has sprung a leak in the exhaust.... Can't find where, no tell tale sign of carbon... fairly obviously coming from the front somewhere. And I'm fearing it's the manifold gasket (gave the bottom of the exctractors a shunt a few weeks ago and cracked the joint at the base too)

Has anyone got any tricks to help me confirm where the leak actually is? Don't wanna spend the half a day needed to pull it down/reassemble if thats actually not it.

In the past I have got someone to start it while I was underneath. Ran my hands around the exhaust manifold feeling for the escaping exhaust gas, worked well.
However you only have about 10-15 seconds before it heats up and you start to burn your hands,
Good luck with it.

Try squirting/tipping water around the manifold and listen for a change in noise. Alternatively use oil in an oil can as it's thicker and seals up the leaks momentarily, but this gets messy and not ideal if your exhaust is hot, but I have done it many times in the past.

Or have someone partially hold their foot over the tailpipe to build up back pressure and make the leak more evident.

Thanks for the idea's. was flying solo tonight, with no conduit or similar in site.

Did drop the front shaft for other reasons which helped alot. The oxy sensor was loose and the thread very dry and chewed out for some reason? Don't think it was loose enough to be 'that' big of a leak, but I'll chase it out 2moro and put my spare sensor in and see how that goes.
