Default Blown head gasket.

Hey I checked my oil on Sunday and it is pretty milky which leads me to thinking I have a blown head gasket or head the car has always had a overheating issue which no matter what I do I can't fix (car only over heats while doing low revs)
I have also noticed that it uses a bit of coolant so I'm pretty sure it's the head or gasket.

Has anyone changed a hg on these any tips?

Anything else I should look at while I have it apart?

Cheers

Mate it could be the actual head as mine leaks coolant too.
The heads crack between 3 and 4 so check that before you make any plans.

There is one particular head casting that gives trouble. An 0331 IIRC. If thats the head then if you are going in, best replace it. I have had a lot of success with GUD Chemiweld. You can get it at supercrap. If you decide to try it, make sure you follow the directions. You should avoid driving it while you have milky oil. Does leaving the radiator cap loose reduce the coolant loss?

The 0331 head is the problem child in the line-up, the other two are perfectly fine....

I agree with the above. I had terrible trouble with over heating and head gaskets. Until I replaced the head, mine was the bad casting and had cracked, and also replace the head bolts.

Cheers and good luck

Cheers

I will check the head casting

Not sure about leaving the rad cap lose it is very minimal and as I only drive the car about 1 day a month it's hard to notice things like that.

Don't suppose you have a spare head lying around in your collection JungleJuice?

Was your overheating mainly at low speed and idle?
