The other issue with the oil film is it makes it very hard if not impossible for the intercooler to cool the incoming air. Oil is an insulator, so no good once it coats the insides of the intercooler.

I agree in theory as said before but really by how much? I think it is negligible. I think you would be talking less than 5k temp difference in a quite oily situation.

Have oil film on the outside of the 2012 WK2 hoses,(not on the WH.) I thought it might have been leaking past the interior sealing orings where hose attaches to throttle body etc Those clip on connections wobble around s lot. There is a complete aftermarket replacement hose kit available from US,better silicone hose plus deletes the plastic parts on the original. www.cxracing.com

Thing is, oil on the outside of the hose is perplexing and annoying, but not detrimental. Therefore even if the fault lies with wobbly clips it won't change the real issue, which is oil on the inside of the hose and what effect it may be having on the intake, if any. Jury's still out, but it seems that catch cans are not a way of preventing it.

That spot is where I am seeing seeping. If you are going to the extent of the cx racing pipes and the weeping hoses annoy you, I would go these
https://cb-engineer.com/products/wk2...ercooler-tubes

Removes all silicone except for a couple of small joiners and reverse the flow path removing a heap of total pipe length

Sorry for long time i should have updated my oil sweat on intercooler hose. I am happy to see it is not from turbo as I thought, it just took a few weeks to get dry off , Now I am enjoying seeing totally dry inter cooler hose. But the hose is a bit of rot and I ordered a replacement after market hose (just host not pipe and hose assembly from Mopar) from Ebay UK for about $30. Only I regret is i should have done it from new.
