Have a look on the net at 3.0 diesel patrol fuel consumption. A lot of these owners are getting very poor economy. And the reliability of the 3.0 diesel engine is not good, which only leaves the older again 4.2 diesel since patrol is now petrol only.
The older Toyota diesels in the 80 series get about 14l/100km on the highway if you take it easy and not towing any thing. Best fuel numbers I ever got was 12+ litres per 100km on the highway, no wind, no overtaking, no hills, NO SPEEDING, and it was mostly more like 13 to 14 per 100km.
So in my opinion you would be better off with the jeep v8 if fuel cost is what you want to save on compared to Patrol or 80 series diesel.
In my WG crd I get 8.5L/100km on the same roads but can get as high as 10L/100km speeding and overtaking and bad headwinds etc. The WG gets around 16L/100km towing a 2.5 ton caravan at 100km with headwind, hills etc.
