Default Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD not revving or accelerating

Hi
I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee 2.7 CRD (WJ) UK MODEL

The jeep does not rev or accelerate.
Also the engine management light is on and check gauges.
The transmission engages and the jeep can move on the idling power but can not accelerate.

The oil pressure, engine temperature and battery voltage gauges do not work, however, the RPM meter seems to work (because when the engine ignites, the hand moves to show idling).

Have changed the throttle position sensor (TPS) but problem not solved.

What could be the problem?!
Please please help!

Many thanks,

Askula

You need to find the codes and by the sounds of it by someone with a DRBIII scanner, namely a dealer, you can try the key on/off three times but it will only throw basic codes. Something has put it in limp mode and the codes will tell what it is. No gauges is interesting.

Start with Drovers comment and see what codes you can pull up and we'll see if they are meaningful.

Dare I suggest also starting with testing the battery. Needs to be load tested though not just a basic static voltage test.
When did this start happening.
When you say it doesn't rev what actually happens. If you give it some serious throttle in neutral or park will it rev or rev gradually.
How did this start happening, anything done recently, when last serviced.

Do the basics like check all fuses are OK as it seems odd the car runs but the gauges aren't working properly.

The codes are a very good starting point though.

Thanks everyone for the advise thus far.
I did the key on/off and the error codes below were displayed:
P0115
P0190
P0235
P1608
P1685
P2120
P2125

Whilst doing the key on/off, all the gauges came to life although erratically.
It seems the battery is knackered though, hence, I am considering buying new one.

Looking forward for further guidance and interpretation of the above error codes.

Many thanks!

Check out the sticky 'everything 2.7 crd' at the start of the Grand Cherokee section here on AJOR, has links to fault codes, parts list and other info. Battery sounds like a wise choice though. Heading off to work so can't interpret your codes yet, cheers.

I'll have a look soon too but seeing as you notice the battery is stuffed I would suggest it could be high on the list of most of the problems. Before you waste time chasing false issues the first thing to do is get a new battery.
