If you plan on getting rid of the stock stereo (I assume they are 1.5 DIN in the WJ as well) you could do something like I did.

I had a piece of wood made up to fill in the extra space for the stereo and just bolted the mounting for the head of my Uniden UHF013 straight into that. Then I put the guts of it under my centre console and as it didn't sound too good or loud from there put a external speaker in the passenger footwell. For the holder for the mic I drilled a few holes in a inconspicuous place on the dash and if I ever sell it I will just leave that piece there.

See the pic, very happy with the install should be able to do a similar thing for a WJ.

Thanks fellas.
Dave - I suppose your reply is aimed at WjcrdBill. FYI the console on my WG is a fair bit different and the std radio set up is quite good. What steered you the uniden?

Billsta - all those pennies i save using diesel were goin' to be spent on grog
I'll look into the two units u suggested.

Wildturkey - i'd love to get that link if it's not to much trouble m8. By the way have you posted any info or pics of your WG yet
ciao

goodol55,

It was a hard choice and I can't really remember why i choose it, it may have been because the uniden was in a package. But it had to be a GME TX3400 or Uniden UH013 because the remote head really appealed to me.

The UH013 had strong recommendations from a few people but then again so did the GME TX3400! . I think I even went to the shop not knowing which to get and the salesman steered me towards the uniden. The only difference between them feature wise is the GME had selcall and the UNIDEN has a scanner which means you can listen to the Police and other things which is pretty cool and has provided hours of entertainment.

Jeeps helped me out heaps, this post might help you:

Also the shop I bought them from which I think is the place wildturkey is talking about it:

Dave

Ok - done the deal on the UHF013 - appeared ever so slightly better IMHO - mic comes out drivers side - and $14 cheaper - Olbis will fit it up (Monday) for $110 which appears to be going rate though a bit exxy - at least if anything packs up I got someone to take it back to - antennae another $85 - all up $610.

Thanks for all your help on this one. Fit-up locations as per crd03's post

hmm...Just leaves - fridge, gps, air locker, bash plates, lift kit.......sheeet do i really need any of that
