I do,

But in a V8, it's basically 2ea Optimas in the same place with a custom made tray that cost me about $350.

Since I took the inlet off the air cleaner to fit compressor in I noticed that if I take the aircleaner out completley and replace it with a cyclone style unit I might be able to get another one there as well, but have not yet had a chance to fiddle.

If you want some pics let me know

Bill

Yeah done it with 2 Optima's. Pulled one out though as i needed it for my Willys temporarily. I didn't put it back in as i wasn't happy with the quality of the tray i made & want to re-make it.

V8 battery tray is smaller than the diesel's & it could be that 2 optimas will fit on a diesel tray Can you measure your tray and let us know the size ?

V8 tray needs to be about 1.5" wider and 2" lower to allow for the front-most battery v's slope of the bonnet. Also, i needed to turn the fuse box 90deg to make room.

Been thinking about getting back to work onto this. Will see how i go in the next few weeks. Will take pics & let you know how i go.

Other option for was for me to fit a diesel tray (as they're on the opposite side) and get rid of the air box (like bill s). That way there's 1 battery on each side. Would help even the weight (they're heavy suckers the optimas!). I can't remember how a diese engine bay looks but... maybe you could fit a V8 tray on teh other side and sort something else for the filter.

Like your thinking,

Only thing with that is that i have to run an Air filter thats of a decent size as its a Turbo charged Engine it needs lots a air...

Mint idea i'll be looking into that for sure!

I am running the same set up as Billista's - a ARB system with 2 Oddessey's turned sideways. Nothing else needed except for a slight mod of the original tray. Works well and have never had any problems.
